What’s In My Bag? And What It Means To Me!

My bag: Dooney & Bourke Nylon flap backpack that my mom got me as a gift just because. Perfect for the change of season.

You could say I really am ready for any adventure at any time of the day! I love last minute plans, those always turn out the best 🙂

Bags have always been one of my favorite things to gift myself. I learned it from the women in my family! They may not have had a lot of money to their name but that didn’t stop them from expressing themselves creatively. My great-grandma used to make $20/week while raising 7 kids as a single mother. I don’t know how she did it. But she managed it with grace and beauty, with a cute purse by her side always! That quality got passed down to my grandma, my mom, and then finally to me. And it’s definitely a quality I will be passing down to my kids. The BFF Sol started using purses/bags because of me :’)

I know some people see purses as superficial or whatever and that is totally fine. To each their own. But I believe there is so much meaning in having a bag that you love because it is something you carry with you every day! A bag is more than just a bag. It’s that one little treat you get to give yourself because we all deserve to splurge on ourselves. Life is too short not to. My family may have never had enough money but that didn’t stop them from investing in a purse that adds some pep into their step. It’s a small thing but it holds so much value because it’s something that the women in my family have always managed to get themselves, without any man!!! It’s almost a symbol of freedom from the man. I love that I come from a line of single mothers!!

Purses and bags are simply my way of wearing my heart on my shoulder. Now you don’t have to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a bag either. Dude you can literally rock a tote bag with a cute ass design! My great-grandma would always take me to the thrift store for stuff and it’s still one of my favorite places to get a bag. But I also do have my fair share of “nicer” bags. I like to take them from my mom lol! That’s what moms are for you know. I like changing my bags often too. Just depends on my mood or where I’m going. I like a spacious nylon backpack for my everyday life. I love using my “nicer” purses on days where I dress up and actually put time into looking cute.

Ugh, I just really believe every person should have a cute bag! Men too! Bags/purses aren’t just for one gender so have fun shopping around and just grab the one that catches your eye and fits your needs.

*Random: I really am the real life version of Dora The Explorer lol! Just me and my bag exploring the world, having fun and looking pretty*

If we have to live this life we might as well look cute doing it!
